Ho's Need Abortions

Oh how I love Third Wave Feminists like the woman in the video below.

Reminds me of Margot St. James. Speak Truth to Power. Nobody did it better than Margo. Rest in Peace.
"I’ve always felt that if we couldn’t get the prohibition on sex work repealed we would never hang onto abortion rights. It’s the same piece of property. Our property.
When prostitution is a crime, the message conveyed is that women who are sexual are “bad,” and therefore legitimate victims of sexual assault. Sex becomes a weapon to be used by men." - MARGO ST. JAMES, San Francisco Examiner, Apr. 29, 1979
Margaret Jean "Margo" St. James (September 12, 1937 – January 11, 2021) was an American prostitute and sex-positive feminist. In San Francisco, she founded COYOTE (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics), an organization advocating decriminalization of prostitution, and co-founded the St. James Infirmary Clinic, a medical and social service organization serving sex workers in the Tenderloin. - wikipedia

Sunday with Screamin' Jay Hawkins

Man speaks to my condition. Constipation Blues is about pain. I cannot stand Boss Tweet's face and voice. What he says and does makes me sick in heart and mind. And Boss Tweet has not gone away yet. Not yet.

Hawkins is a Blues singer with an operatic range. Some folks say this is rock and roll. Nah. Some folks say it is early Shock Rock. I agree. Man is so hard to catalog. He Screamin' Jay.

I am building this post. If you love Screamin' Jay and you got something to say, say it loud. We need to know who is backing Hawkins up here.

Do I have to point out what brilliant satire his work is? Nah.

CHURCH MILITANT - They want members. They charge money.

So there are two Traditional Catholic message boards I found while looking for a community of Catholics to be Catholic among. I love the Roman Catholic Church. I keep trying to find my way back to Mass. I have been banned from both Traditional Catholic message boards.

I left the church forever when I saw a very young girl come out of the Confessional with bitter tears streaming down her face. What happened to her? What sin could a child commit so awful that would result in discipline so painful. I felt deeply that Roman Catholics were cruel and I was never coming back. I was 13.

I stayed away a long time. I was evangelized by a Catholic woman. She invited me back and insisted a spiritual community was what I needed. I was alone with 2 young daughters and in the middle of a divorce. I needed. So I went to Mass and the Priest's sermon was that 'Gay Folks deserve to die of AIDS because God said so.' Best boss I ever had, Thomas MacBeth, was a gay man. Thomas was a Musician and the Organist for the Presbyterian Church in Princeton NJ. He has a square in the first AIDS Quilt. Did not go back to Mass for another couple of decades.

I am on a rediscover the Catholic Church again quest. I took a Vow. Even though the Magisterium aided and abetted kiddyrapers, I am still trying to find a way. I am a cradle Catholic. My Polish family is one of the founding families of beautiful St. Hedwig's in Trenton New Jersey. I want to make Peace with my childhood religion. I remember my Babcha teaching me to pray in front of a blue eyed Polish Jesus. I was four years old.

This is what I found Catholics are concerned with today on CHURCH MILITANT. These comments come from an article about a Roman Catholic Nun who ministers to transgender and intersex people. You can read it at the link.

I have been banned because I keep typing the motto below. What follows the Flying Trump Christmas Ornament are Comments from some of the Catholics who frequent Church Militant. They run 1 out of 4 are decent people.:

This is the Century in which the Roman Catholic Church will stop maiming and killing Women, Children and assorted Odd People.

  • These evil modern religious, these phony nuns, are a desecration of the true meaning of the Religious life. My daughter is an enclosed Carmelite Sister and she, and her whole Carmel live in holy obedience to God and His Church. They witness to all who meet them the truth of God. This Derouen creature is an evil agent of Satan who is deliberately guiding people directly into Hell. She will find a special deep, dark burning place has been reserved for her because of the countless souls she has damned.

Did anyone else notice her last name, Derouen, is pronounced, "De Ruin?" De Ruin! Oh man, the irony!
And what a way to "help" somebody...to encourage them in their sin.

I'm not surprised there are such people, I'm just surprised they are allowed to live and thrive in Catholic religious orders, which only shows the whole order is infected with poison.

The very first sentence shows total ignorance or brazen liar.
“ Sr. Luisa Derouen: "I am absolutely meant by God to be a companion to transgender people."”
==> God defines homosexuality as an abomination
==> God wrote in stone that false witness is a sin
==> God declared that cross-dressing is a sin
Put all together, like in basic simple maths 1+1+1=3
That means a biological male claiming to be female and dressing as such is already a double no-no.
That means her god isn’t the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and her belief not based on the Holy Bible.

The Vatican is short on money and they wonder why. It's not hard to understand: no one wants to support fake catholics who abuse their power and God.

Political Sign of the Month - UPDATE - ALAN GRAYSON RETURNS!

                UPDATE:
This is an old post (2013) that now contains good news. Alan is back and running for Marco Rubio's Senate seat.

The poster below is from his opposition. I think calling Grayson 'nasty' seems a silly and weak response from Republicans given the reign of Trump. I think Alan Grayson scares Republicans. I like that in a Senator. Grayson named "most effective legislator" by Slate Magazine.

I heart you, Alan Grayson. I want you to have my babies. Here are a couple of Alan Grayson's Greatest Hits. You choose - stupid sanctimonious suckup Marco Rubio or a speak truth to power mensch like Alan Grayson. Take your choice, Florida.

One of Alan Grayson's Bill Amendments:

Petition: "I don't want the Government looking at my e-mails, my telephone records, my website records, or my GPS records. I cherish my freedom and my privacy. I am not a terrorist, and I won't let my government treat me like one. Therefore, I support Congressman Alan Grayson's 'Mind Your Own Business Act.'"

Pssst. Fools tread where Angels fear to go. I am a Fool.

I read this bitty essay by Jonathan Capehart. I am verklempt.

“Woke supremacy” ranks up there with that tired crutch of the right known as “cancel culture.” The purpose of both phrases is to shield folks from criticism when they are called out for their actions or their deeply ignorant musings that peddle in racism, xenophobia or misogyny. It is also used to deny dignity to those of us who rise up and demand it in defiance of a dominant culture that depends on our silence. Or, in the case of Scott, complicity in maintaining that silence.
So let us now pile on and stomp Tim Scott because he is bad bad bad. Proof? We doan need no steenking proof.

Joy and Jon point out that Tim is Black. Tim points out that Joy and Jon are Black. Okay. So far so good. What about this petty family political dispute makes its occurrence significant enough for an essay in WaPo? If we all going to wallow in insult, I think I will join in. The work by Master Ernie Kovacs is the most perfect criticism I can provide.

Who was civil or even politic in the Joy, Jon and Tim ménage a trois? Nobody. Which of the Three has been 'silenced.' LOL. Bitchy bitchy bitchy. Is this really the impression you are trying to create?

The Evil do evil. Jonathan and Joy, you are asking me to make individual specific Republicans totally responsible for all Republican evil thuggery. It is a stupid position. You be stupid. I will save France. Politics done as team sport is NOT good citizenship.

Evidently none of these upper class darlings have met some of The Woke that I have met. Nobody ever tells the truth to the 'rich and famous.' So they have no idea what is going on. And now we have been provided by Jon and Joy some new folks to OTHER - the Woke and the Unwoke. The Woke and The UnDead? The Sleepy and the SleepLess. I will stop now.

The Easter Suite by Oscar Peterson

                Happy Easter!

                For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
                The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land;
                Song of Solomon 2:11-12

Oscar Emmanuel Peterson, (August 15, 1925 – December 23, 2007) was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer. He was called the "Maharaja of the keyboard" by Duke Ellington, but simply "O.P." by his friends. He released over 200 recordings, won eight Grammy Awards, and received numerous other awards and honours. He is considered one of the greatest jazz pianists, and played thousands of concerts worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years. Read more about his life...

"Though the Easter Suite is regarded by some as one of this jazz legend’s great works, it remains unknown to many still today. Commissioned by The South Bank Show and first broadcast live on Good Friday 1984, this instrumental work depicts events from the gospel story. The Peterson Trio is on top form, with Peterson in particular displaying wonderful musicianship in the last movement, He Has Risen." - Graham Ross

                Irish Potatoes and Colbert Catechism

Irish Potato Candy is a Philadelphia Spring tradition. Delicious! Indeed, Philadelphians created the candy.

You can buy O'Ryan's made Irish Potato Candy at the market or online.

Or you can make this simple candy at home. The recipe is fun to do with children. No hot stove. No special equipment. For a recipe that actually contains potatoes for Vegans and others go HERE,

                Ingredients

                1⁄4 cup softened Butter
                4 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
                1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
                1(16 ounce) package Confectioners' Sugar
7 ounces sweetened flaked Coconut (2 1/2 cups)
                2 tablespoon ground Cinnamon
                2 tablespoon Cocoa

NOTE: Be sure to use regular cream cheese, not whipped or reduced fat type. You may need more Cinnamon and Cocoa for dipping.

In a large bowl, cream together the Butter and Cream Cheese. Add Vanilla and Confectioners' Sugar. Beat until mixture forms a ball. Stir in Coconut with a spoon. Roll the mixture between your hands to form small potato-shaped candies or roll into small balls. Place Cinnamon and Cocoa in a shallow dish and roll the balls in it. Place the balls on a cookie sheet and chill for about 1 hour or until firm. If you prefer "dirtier potatoes" roll the candy a second time after they have chilled. You can also add a few chopped Nuts to look like 'eyes' if you want to get really artistic.

This is the month in which we celebrate Saint Patrick. Where else can you get a catechism and a candy recipe on the same page?

Frankly, speaking as a Roman Catholic, I much prefer representation by Stephen Colbert than porky nasty Bill Donohue of the Catholic League. Yes, I even think politics on holidays.

                Let it snow!

                Snowy Night
                A poem by Mary Oliver
                Last night, an owl
                in the blue dark
                tossed
                an indeterminate number
                of carefully shaped sounds into
                the world, in which,
a quarter of a mile away, I happened
                to be standing.
                I couldn’t tell
                which one it was –
                the barred or the great-horned
                ship of the air –
it was that distant. But, anyway,
                aren’t there moments
that are better than knowing something,
                and sweeter? Snow was falling,
                so much like stars
                filling the dark trees
                that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
                than prettiness. I suppose
if this were someone else’s story
they would have insisted on knowing
whatever is knowable – would have hurried
                over the fields
to name it – the owl, I mean.
But it’s mine, this poem of the night,
and I just stood there, listening and holding out
my hands to the soft glitter
falling through the air. I love this world,
                but not for its answers.
And I wish good luck to the owl,
                whatever its name –
and I wish great welcome to the snow,
                whatever its severe and comfortless
                and beautiful meaning.
It was silent until about twenty minutes ago. Then the girls discovered they could swim in the snow drifts. The cats are bored. I ate lamb chops for breakfast. Happy New Year? So far, so good.

                The Other French Onion Soup

We are having cold weather in Philadelphia. I want hot comforting soup.

Pour les invalides of Plum Street, this soup is simple to make - or make for someone else - even if you do not cook much. We know who we are.

This onion and cheese soup is tasty and does not require any special cooking skill at all. The quantity is infinitely expandable, just maintain the proportion of equal weights of onion to potato. Serves 2 to 4 people.

                The Other French Onion Soup

                3 large Potatoes
                3 large Onions
8 ounces Swiss Cheese (quantity to taste)
                Garnish of Minced Celery Tops

Peel onions and potatoes and place them in a deep soup pot. Be generous about removing outer layers of onion that are too tough to cook and bad for your digestion. Add enough water to cover the vegetables plus one inch above them. Bring water to a boil, then turn down and simmer until onions and potatoes are very soft. Grate the cheese. Mash the vegetables in their own broth when tender. Season with Salt and Pepper. Stir the cheese into the hot soup and serve. Garnish with minced celery tops.

You may wish to substitute another cheese or garnish (minced parsley, bacon bits, etc.). I prefer the combination above, as taught me by an elderly French woman whose surname I never learned. She was Madame Sophie always. A little green salad and some good bread and I feel a happy well fed person.

Note: Do not overcook or your soup will be gluey. Cook only until you can pierce the vegetables with a fork. You want texture in your soup. Do not be lazy. Mince the celery very fine. You will be glad you did.

February - The Love Month #2

I love poetry. Shameless hot love. I found the Poetry Foundation.

I went there hunting poems about Love. This poem was listed under Funny Love Poems. The poem comes from the book Bar Napkin Sonnets.

I have lived this and I ain't laughing. Poem so good it hurts. I am remembering, lusting after and loving all and everyone who was there. I love them now. Even those who do not talk to me anymore.
                Bar Napkin Sonnet #11
Things happen when you drink too much mescal.
One night, with not enough food in my belly,
he kept on buying. I'm a girl who'll fall
damn near in love with gratitude and, well, he
was hot and generous and so the least
that I could do was let him kiss me, hard
and soft and any way you want it, beast
and beauty, lime and salt—sweet Bacchus' pards—
and when his friend showed up I felt so warm
and generous I let him kiss me too.
His buddy asked me if it was the worm
inside that makes me do the things I do.
I wasn't sure which worm he meant, the one
I ate? The one that eats at me alone?

                since you’ve been gone
since you’ve been gone, I’ve been alone.
like an arm without a bone.
dangling limply like a phone that’s out of charge.
                like homer without marge.

                like hitler without goebbels.
like a dilemma without the di,
just a lemma and a sigh.
                like déjà without vu,
                I am nothing without you.
till the day that you come back,
                I’m like whitney without crack.

                The Dream

"Our only hope today lies in our ability to recapture the revolutionary spirit and go out into a sometimes hostile world declaring eternal hostility to poverty, racism, and militarism." - Martin Luther King
Countee Cullen is a giant of an American poet. I dream America free of bigotry of the killing kind - so exquisitely expressed in Cullen's poem.
                Countee Cullen
                INCIDENT
                Once riding in old Baltimore,
                Heart-filled, head-filled with glee,
                I saw a Baltimorean
                Keep looking straight at me.
Now I was eight and very small,
And he was no whit bigger,
And so I smiled, but he poked out
His tongue, and called me, 'Nigger.'
I saw the whole of Baltimore
                From May until December;
Of all the things that happened there
                That's all that I remember.
Rest in Peace Martin Luther King Jr. The struggle continues.

Lyrics to Lift Every Voice and Sing written by another poet of the Harlem Renaissance James Weldon Johnson. Composer is J. Rosamond Johnson. History of the Harlem Renaissance and its Poets HERE.

                Lyrics:
                Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
                'Til earth and heaven ring,
                Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;

                Let our rejoicing rise
                High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
                Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on 'til victory is won.
                Stony the road we trod,
                Bitter the chastening rod,
                Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
                Yet with a steady beat,
                Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
                Out from the gloomy past,
'Til now we stand at last
Where the gleam of our bright star is cast.
                God of our weary years,
                God of our silent tears,
                Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
                Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
                Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
                Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
                May we forever stand,
                True to our God,
                True to our native land.

Veni, vidi, vice. - Julius Caesar

                Graphic by Buddy McCue.

I studied two semesters of Latin in High School. This is the only sentence in Latin I know beyond the Latin Mass. It translates I came, I saw, I conquered.

I have been absent and this is the first time I have been able to think anything at all much less write anything. I am grumpy. I did not much like John McCain when he was alive. I see no reason to like him now that he is dead. Rest in Peace.

I am thinking about War. We were lied into the Iraq War. Saddam with WMD was an outright utilitarian lie. Democrats under Obama should not have 'moved on' for the 'good of the country.' Torture is a war crime. Bush and Cheyney need to stand trial. Not doing anything about it was cowardly and accelerated our current contempt at all levels for 'facts' and the rule of law. Our biggest problem now is rampant corruption. I like the way the Bible puts it.
                Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
So let us talk about war heros like Julius Caesar. And The USA waging war somewhere on the globe for a moment.

We have not won any wars. We are currently at war all over the globe. It is all the same war. We have been in continuous war for more than 30 years now.

This approach to diplomacy is making us poor and the 1% rich and killing innocent people. We are a global bully and the chickens are coming home to roost.

Bush and Republican policy created the last fiscal disaster. A taxcut for the Corpos and 1% while in a war is the perfect recipe for fiscal disaster. And that is what they did to us and have just done again.

On a lighter note, the corn and cantaloupes seem especially yummy right now. One day, we will eat the Rich and the Corpos. They will leave us no other choice.
