RANT - Getting Jiggy at Protest Marches

Kyle's Tears

My March Hat
I do not understand why the Police did not arrest Kyle on sight. How did they know some nerdy guy with a super weapon would not shoot them? Why did they fail to disarm him? I cannot force myself to watch the trial.

So far, the super gun shooters have killed Children and Students and Shoppers and habitues of Prayer Meetings. Where is it safe to BE in America?

Kyle and Friends have destroyed protest marches. Right to peaceful assembly? Guaranteed right in the Constitution, my sweet bippy.

1/6 tells us that shooting and beating LEOs is kool with the middle and upper classes now. New big game trophy = People.

Yo Doctor, wachoo gonna do? Wachoo gonna do when they come for you?

THE FIRST DOCTOR OF CONSCIENCE STANDS UP:

In an opinion essay published in The Washington Post under the headline “Why I violated Texas’s extreme abortion ban,” the doctor, Alan Braid, who has been performing abortions for more than 40 years, said that he performed one on Sept. 6 for a woman who, although still in her first trimester, was beyond the state’s new limit.

“I acted because I had a duty of care to this patient, as I do for all patients, and because she has a fundamental right to receive this care,” Dr. Braid wrote. “I fully understood that there could be legal consequences — but I wanted to make sure that Texas didn’t get away with its bid to prevent this blatantly unconstitutional law from being tested.”I was 30 when women got reliable medical contraception and legal safe abortion. My 16 year old Sister poisoned herself with quinine to self abort. My Mother had more than one illegal abortion. She 'knew somebody.' I 'chose life' trying to be a good Catholic. I was 18. One of the most unfortunate decisions I ever made. The Prez of NJ NOW lost her Mother to illegal abortion when she was 9. Women are going to be maimed and they are going to die in Texas and other welfare queen redpublican States.

The difference between now and then = MSMedia will report every death, every hemorrhage, every Teen self aborts with a pencil, every woman forced to carry a dead baby to 'term.' And then abortion will be legal again. Who is going to pay for all the dead and maimed Women? Nobody paid the last time when the medical establishment fucked us and destroyed midwifery. What is the medical establishment going to do now? Roll over and let us die? Again.

It was an all male Conservative majority SCOTUS that enacted Roe v Wade. It is the centrist Conservative position on the issue. We will now per Texas inhabit the Alt-Left and Alt-Right positions on abortion simultaneously. All regulation is gone. It is Gosnell City in Texas. Philly knows what I mean. I Stand with Texas Women and the Lady in the picture below. Read the whole Tshirt.

OMG GOP WTF? - Queen Guiliani Haz a Hair Ball - Update

Is Rudy Guiliani competent mentally and politically? Here is Rudy Guiliani doing the Drag Queen. He has a 'right to kill.'

This is what a Drag Queen looks like.

And this is what a Drag Queen looks like. Fabulous. If I want to see a tired out old Italian Nonna, I can look in the mirror at home. Are you listening SNL?

Is Rudy Giuliani competent mentally and politically? About as competent at being a respected public figure as he is at being a Drag Queen. You are killing me, Rudy Baby. Killing me. STFU.

Bill Allyn's Justice Reform List

Click Me!
Published again for obvious reasons.

I found this excellent essay about law enforcement on Crooks and Liars. It was just hanging out in the comments. The author, Bill Allyn, has posted it on a number of online sites. I hope I can help his comments go viral by publishing them here. I think he covers all the bases. Bill Allyn approves this message.

Justice System Reform List

America has a serious, institutionalized, systemic law enforcement problem. Over the last 4 decades, our law enforcement has become increasingly militarized, putting every citizen at risk of being shot and killed for nothing more than reaching for their wallet, as instructed, or less. This may increase safety for police officers (debatable, in the long run), but at the expense of making American citizens far less safe, which is the exact opposite of the goals of law enforcement. We need to create systems that bring back accountability within every level of the justice system.

Nationally, we need to:

1. Create citizen oversight committees with powers of subpoena and prosecutorial discretion for every law enforcement agency in the country. A special independent prosecutor must be assigned immediately for officer-involved shootings. Committee members should be randomly selected and replaced often, like grand jurors, to avoid corruption.

2. Require law enforcement officers to be personally insured to protect taxpayers from lawsuits. Too risky for insurance? No insurance, no badge. Insurance could be partially publicly subsidized.

3. Require every law enforcement officer to wear a camera. No camera, no gun. Also, implement GPS tracking on all police cars and cameras.

4. Require yearly psyche tests to screen out potentially abusive officers.

5. Require random drug and steroid tests.

6. All police agencies must keep a database of every officer-caused civilian injury, shooting or killing, and that data must be periodically transmitted to a third-party, non-biased national database.

7. Any officer involved in a shooting must be alcohol and drug tested immediately.

8. Officers should be made aware of studies on abuse of power, such as the Stanford Prison Experiment and the Milgram experiment on obedience to authority figures. Ensure there are clear policies on use of force.

9. More training to deal with mentally ill, or a mental illness crisis unit. More training and encouragement to use peacemaking, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills. Increase educational requirements, focusing on psychology, sociology, and social work.

10. Create a special number (third party, independent of police) to report police brutality. Victims of police brutality and the families of police shootings should immediately be appointed an attorney to represent their position/case.

11. Create national database of abusive officers, so they don’t just get hired elsewhere.

12. Reverse militarization of police forces. Take away military weapons, APC's, uniforms, and especially the attitude. Police officers are civilians, not a branch of the military. Require at least 5 years between active duty military and civilian police employment. Keep SWAT/military weapons and equipment under lock and key only to be used in genuine emergencies. Quit viewing the community you police as a “war zone”.

13. Prohibit television shows that glorify bad, illegal, or unconstitutional policing, such as “Cops”. Glorifying these behaviors creates a dangerous situation for American citizens and should not be tolerated.

14. Increase community outreach. Hire officers from the community. Officers need to be more in touch with the people they are sworn to protect.

15. End no-knock raids. It is perfectly legal for a home owner to respond to a break in with gun in hand, which gets them killed when the police are the intruders. This makes it unreasonably dangerous on citizens, especially when cops often go to the wrong address.

16. Reform forfeiture laws to protect citizens’ property rights and due process. No forfeiture proceedings until after conviction. All forfeiture proceeds go directly to the victims of police brutality and the families of police shootings.

17. End drug prohibition/war on drugs. Use harm reduction strategies.

18. End private prison industry.

19. Create a national organization dedicated to these ideals.

The Practical Limitations of Government or Dance Like It Is 1975

Because I am a Women's issues gadfly, I troll the Internet message boards for a chance to argue Women's issues. One argument I hear fairly often goes sort of like this:
"No, you are not in control of your body because The Gummint makes laws about what you can do with it. You can't just take drugs, for example. Or prostitute."
Actually, I can take drugs if I so choose. And I have. I am astounded that anyone thinks The Rules keep people good. It plainly evident that it is humanity's goodness and longing for peace that keeps The Peace of the Rule of Law.

I can choose whatever I want and pay for it. The government has only two responses to behavior it wishes I would not do: prohibition and punishment. These are weak responses in the face of psychoses and/or casual and joyful wrongdoing. How so? Follow me.

I had to have a background check to do a job. I came up with a spotless record. I breathed a sigh of relief because I subscribe to the Rule of Law for the most part, I want my government to be effective and expect it to be, and I thought my Sin would surely find me.

My arrest in 1975 for growing 13 six foot tall marijuana plants in the greenhouse of my country home never showed up. Only time I ever got arrested. Somehow the Police got the idea that my house was the East Coast depot for all the Humboldt County Green. They sent a truck to tow away the bales of marijuana and three squad cars. I was out. They left me note: "Mrs. B, please come on over to the police station." So fully expecting to be slammed into the pokey, I ambled on over to the station house.

They booked me. I confessed to the Judge so they would let my innocent gardener go. The Russian carpenter living in the basement confessed too.  I plead guilty to Misdemeanor Cultivation of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. Cost me a $185.00 fine. Cops took the plants and the baggie with about a gram in it that belonged to Sergei.

All of this happened because the municipal dog catcher had the hots for me and came round to put the make on me one afternoon. I think, on the whole, that even though I had no house I could see out any window, and my nearest neighbor was two miles away, it was a mistake to swim naked in the pool.

Ah, the War on Drugs. The Gummint is not good at "controlling my body." And not good at keeping track of crime and Evildoers like me. Good thing I am not a psychopath and I am sober. Think how much trouble I could get into if I tried, know what I mean? And there are people out there trying every day.

So let us just shed the idea that order is imposed and can be imposed by the government without the cooperation of the people right now. I leave you with these thoughts from Lao Tzu translated by Herrymon Maurer.

    Govern the country by regular rules;
    Direct the army by cunning moves;
But win the world by avoiding fuss.
How do I know that this is so?
    Inward light!

    Beneath heaven,
The more rules and prohibitions there are,
    The poorer the people become.
The sharper the weapons there are,
    The greater the country's confusion.
    The cleverer the people become,
The more cunning acts take place.
The more laws and orders there are,
The more thieves and robbers appear.

    Therefore the sage says:
    I do nothing,
And the people of themselves reform.
    I love stillness,
And the people of themselves grow straight.
    I don't fuss,
And the people of themselves get rich.
    I don't want,
And the people of themselves grow simple.

When the law is dumb dumb,
    The people are simple simple.
When the law is smart smart,
    The people are broke broke.
    Good fortune rests on bad fortune;
Bad fortune hides in good fortune.
Who knows the end of this?

    It does not stop:
    The normal turns into the odd;
The good turns into the weird.
Long have the people been in a stew!

    Therefore the sage is
    Severe, but he doesn't cut;
    Exact, but he doesn't hurt;
    Straight, but he doesn't strain;
    Bright, but he doesn't dazzle.

LOOSIES - Update - What say you DOJ?

It is the 8th anniversary of the choke hold death of Eric Garner. The DOJ has done nothing. Rand Paul has not forgotten. Nor have I.

I hate it when I get anywhere near to agreeing with Rand Paul. Guy always looks like he has been sleeping off a three day drunk in his car. Bear with me, please.

It is true that cigarette taxes are bad law as Rand Paul asserts. We disagree about why these taxes are bad law.

Cigarette taxes are bad law for ordinary folks - never mind "dangerous" for the police. Fuck the police.

Eric Garner was a small business owner. A old school capitalist. He sold single cigarettes, called loosies in the 'Hood, for profit.

A pack of cigarettes is so expensive due to taxes. Your basic working person and everyday street person cannot afford a whole pack at one time or has to make one pack last a week. Sometimes you just have to have a cigarette. And there on the corner stood Eric Garner ready, willing and not all that able. Eric Garner was murdered for selling a cigarette.

Taxes run government. The Suits decided to tax the shit out of cigarettes and thereby tax the shit out of addicts and working folks rather than tax the pusher Corpos and Wall Street. Naturally the nanny Progressives cheered. All that second hand smoke irritated their eyes, no doubt.

The working classes as a whole who smoke are being farmed for money to run government services just like Ferguson was being farmed for tax money to run government. Every man a profit center.

I think there is plenty of blame to go around for the death of Eric Garner, right and left.

Selling loosies is not a capital offense. It is an interracial occupation in Philly. Whole damn murder was a matter of CLASS not race. This time. On second thought, it is a race and a class and a poverty thing.
    CLICK ME !

"If Eric Garner had been selling naked credit default swaps instead of cigarettes – if in other words he'd set up a bookmaking operation in which passersby could bet on whether people made their home mortgage payments or companies paid off their bonds – the police by virtue of a federal law called the Commodity Futures Modernization Act would have been barred from even approaching him."
    Matt Taibbi

I love it when the real world agrees with me. Agreement tells me I am sane. These days I need all the reassurance I can get.

Michigan makes up for its budget shortfall after cutting corporate taxes by taxing people who smoke and drink more! Chad Livengood reports:
Revenue from so-called sin taxes on tobacco, beer, wine and liquor totaled $290.5 million in the 2014 fiscal year, more than twice the $137.6 million net income taxes paid by Michigan businesses after receiving $768.8 million in refunds from tax credits, a Detroit News analysis of tax data shows.
Since Gov. Rick Snyder and lawmakers delivered sweeping tax relief for businesses in 2011, net business income taxes dropped 90 percent, depleting the state's main operating fund of $1.33 billion, according to state revenue data.

The Rule of Law is More Fragile than We Know

    Poster Art from the WPA.

It is against the law to sell an ounce of MaryJane. Or sell a couple of your Percocets to get cigarette money.  And both those events go on in my Hood on a regular basis.  And the people committing these "crimes" are just everyday good folk. I know them. They are my neighbors. Draconian drug laws caused the Philly police to illegally search my daughter one day when she was coming home from work. Just putzing along one block from our door. They ridiculed her, they attempted to intimidate her, and they searched her.

We have many people in everyday and political life who are "moral indignation junkies." They love being able to pounce on people and prove what morally superior people they are. And they genuinely believe they are morally superior. Kind of like Religious Authoritarians do. They have no idea how off putting and morally offensive they themselves are. Too bad malignant scrupulosity is not painful, except to others.

For the powerful, this moral indignation and scrupulosity and enforcement does not seem to apply. Being a SCOTUS Justice is a license to cheat on your income tax evidently. The IRS will ignore your August Ass "forgetting" to file all your income, although Al Capone went to jail for that. What would happen to the Average Joe who hid thousands from the IRS for years?

Being a law abiding person is not a sane strategy in America any more. When the government takes money from us to run things properly, and we see corruption at every level of leadership, what is the incentive not to be a Crook or a Corpo? There is none. Public corruption destroys more than the economy. Public corruption destroys public trust. Public corruption is turning our cities into wastelands, our roads into rubble and destroying our souls.

I have stopped screaming at the television. I think maybe I can talk again.

This man speaks to our condition.
    rod

Ronald Reagan told us we cannot trust the government, and then to make sure we get the point, the GOP puts the biggest liar and ultimate bullshitter on the ticket. Because they have been conditioned to the point that they don't know who to believe, tons of people decided that since everyone in government lies, we might as well have the best liar available. We now have a government that is sheer dishonesty, starting at the top. Ass holes who will say anything for a buck, line up to defend a man whose credibility is absolutely zero. Fake news, fake president, fake everything. Welcome to the new America, land of bullshit.
    Who am I to believe?

CIA did Abu Ghraib and made us war criminals. FBI gave us James Comey. Who gave us Snowden? Trumpus is a demented liar and a gift from Putin. Intelligence EPIC FAIL. Again. Potentially worse than 9/11 terrorism going down. Fascism going down.

We have Russia or "some 400 lb. man sitting on a bed" playing 'see what we can hack' with American 'TV programs. Just a nasty joke, you say? Russia can hack the massive electrical grids. Given how much distrust they have created using stochastic terrorism among Americans, two weeks of no power = ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. omg.

I have searched everywhere. I cannot find anything saying there was a $4B cost overrun in 3wk old Air Force One contract. Trump made it up.

So glad I voted for Tom Wolf. Way to go, Governor!

“The State is not God. It has not the right to take away what it cannot restore when it wants to.”
    - Anton Chekhov
Governor Tom Wolf expanded Medicaid in our State. I cheered. That makes a big difference in my daughter's life and the lives of many young people just starting out in life.

So, I was congratulating myself for voting for him.

And then I read the article below and I got even more proud that I had the good sense to vote for this good thoughtful man. The American Civil Liberties Union position on the death penalty can be read HERE.

    Courthouse News Service
    Execution Moratorium Imposed in Pennsylvania
    By DAN MCCUE
Pennsylvania's newly elected governor imposed a moratorium on the state's death penalty Friday, declaring it "anything but infallible."
Governor Tom Wolf's decision surprised many in the state capital of Harrisburg, as capital punishment had not been an issue in his 2014 gubernatorial campaign to unseat the incumbent Tom Corbett. In fact, his campaign website, which is still active, focuses mainly on the state's economy, job creation and education.
Wolf said as currently wielded, the state's capital sentencing system is "riddled with flaws, making it error prone, expensive and anything but infallible." He said the moratorium will remain in effect at least until he receives a report from a legislative commission that has been created to study the administration of the death penalty in the state since 2011.

Legal Scholar Wants to 'Rescue' your Fetus.

Stay far away from people who claim they want to do things for you. Like this guy. Download a copy of his entire paper at the link.

    Poster by Favianna Rodriguez.:
Does the Right to Elective Abortion Include the Right to Ensure the Death of the Fetus? - Stephen G. Gilles Quinnipiac University School of Law January 2, 2015
    Abstract:

Is the right to an elective abortion limited to terminating the woman’s pregnancy, or does it also include the right to ensure the death of the fetus? Important as this question is in principle, in today’s world the conduct that would squarely raise it cannot occur in practice. The right to elective abortion applies only to fetuses that are not viable, which by definition means that they have been determined to have no realistic chance of surviving outside the uterus. Even if abortion providers used fetus-sparing methods rather than the fetus-killing methods they currently prefer, pre-viable fetuses would die within minutes. In the not-so-distant future, however, new artificial-womb technologies may make this question an urgent one by enabling pre-viable aborted fetuses to survive to full term if a fetus-sparing abortion method is used. Moreover, whether a woman has the right to ensure the death of her fetus may already have important implications for state laws that regulate the destruction or indefinite non-gestation of cryopreserved embryos.

The subject, therefore, is well worth exploring, both as a matter of constitutional principle and for its present and possible future legal ramifications. To do so, this Article analyzes hypothetical state legislation enacted in the wake of two technological breakthroughs that may occur in the coming decades: (1) improved surgical techniques that enable fetuses to be removed alive from their mothers’ wombs at any stage of gestation; and (2) artificial wombs in which these fetuses can be gestated to term. The Article assumes that these dual technologies (which I refer to as “AW”) will be safe for women, not prohibitively expensive, and reasonably effective: many pre-viable fetuses would survive fetus-sparing abortions and successfully be gestated to full term in an artificial womb. The Article then supposes that a state enacts legislation prohibiting fetus-killing abortion methods and providing AW at state expense to any woman who chooses to terminate her pregnancy.
We do not know how gestation of a fetus outside a human being's body will effect the mental health and emotions of said fetus. The effects could be profound on both Woman and Fetus/Child. Only a psychopath thinks human emotion is a thing to be ignored.

All of this 'prolife' theory is designed to take women's power and potency from them and to put women back into the box we were in before suffrage in 1920. Women have had human rights in the US for 100 years - the lifetime of one woman.

My ova, my fetuses, my womb and my body and its contents belong to/with me and my family. I am not owned by the State or other people. This is Nazi stuff. The quote below from Ernst Rudin known as one of the founders of 'racial hygiene.'
Whoever is not physically or mentally fit must not pass on his defects to his children. The state must take care that only the fit produce children. Conversely, it must be regarded as reprehensible to withhold healthy children from the State.
My question is: what is the State going to do with these 'rescued' children? What are they going to do with the 'unhealthy' children? Never forget Tuam. It was Catholics and the State that did Tuam. Maybe death is superior than sale or donation to the State.

I am not watching TV because of the torture 'debate' the networks are sponsoring now. Torture is not debateable.

I feel sick thinking that my government has made me a torturer.

The networks think I am going to pay for this torture debate shyte and Little Luke Russert too? Out of their fooking minds. Not even to keep Lawrence and Joy and Rachel.

There is nothing to debate. Cable TV is a vast wasteland. And I am paying big bucks for it.

Please sign the Petition to prosecute Bush and Cheny et al.

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

Prosecute, to the full extent of the law, all of the parties responsible for the use of torture outlined in CIA report

Torture is a war crime. There is no statute of limitations on war crimes. Those that have committed this crime should be tried and punished to set us right with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We need justice before there can be redemption. The time is now to set our moral compass in the proper direction by holding those responsible for the horrific acts done in our countries name. There needs to be accountability - there needs to be justice - there needs to be a trial for war crimes now that we know just what was done in our name.

Signs of the Month - Albuquerque in April 2014 - UPDATE

UPDATE 2: The man murdered in the video, James Boyd, was shot in the back and that is the shot that murdered him. The citizens of Albuquerque are battling their own police force.

ALBUQUERQUE — The 13 protesters who stormed the mayor’s office here and were arrested and jailed Monday said they were spurred by renewed outrage over the latest development in a string of fatal police shootings: An autopsy released last week showed the bullet that killed a homeless man, James Boyd, had been fired into his lower back.
UPDATE: See the raw video of the citizens of Albuquerque kicking butt and taking names. Way to go Albuquerque! We need more of this populist political participation. God bless voters. It is a long video and it is a thing of beauty. God bless voters. God bless America.

I had no trouble picking the political signs this month. These signs are from the Albuquerque Police Protest.

Police Assault Protest Against Police Violence

What began as a peaceful protest against the Albuquerque Police Department’s systemic abuse of force and frequent shooting of unarmed civilians spiraled into chaos Sunday evening after police officers—many mounted on horses and in riot gear—assaulted the demonstrators with tear gas.

The Rule of Law - Updated

    Update:
Texas -  it is the new Bangladesh. Unless you vote and vote intelligently, this atrocity will be coming to a town near you. Owners of the building in Bangladesh are being held criminally liable -- how about the owners of the Texas fertilizer plant? Rick Perry said this cartoon is "disgusting." I think it is right on time. Hit the link in the photo caption to go to the Bee.

Okay, the event I expected has come. A corporation has committed depraved indifference homicide. Corporations are people says SCOTUS. Who is going to jail for years? The CEO, the Board, the owners/shareholders? Who is going to pay for this crime? The taxpayers? Only the victims?

Somebody better go to jail. Or We the People might just as well rob our local bank, because being law abiding will not be and cannot be a sane strategy in the USA anymore. Form yourself into a corporation or business entity and you can commit any crime with impunity evidently. Go to the link for stunning coverage of this event. Texas is asking for aid from the Feds, even though they voted against Sandy aid, of course. Somebody needs to piss on their cowboy boots.

A raging fire, followed by a massive explosion at a fertilizer plant in North Texas has devastated a small community. The plant is located in West, Texas, a small town of about 2,800 people, 18 miles north of Waco. As many as 60 homes and local businesses, including a nearby nursing home, were "severely damaged," with some residents killed or tapped inside. The explosion is also believed to have claimed the lives of several firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders who were on the scene to battle the initial blaze. The current estimate of casualties is pegged at 170 wounded and 5-15 people killed, although those numbers could rise dramatically. The federal Chemical Safety Board will look into the cause of the explosion, despite recent revelations that  it's still tied up looking at the BP oil spill.

-We can't stop giving tax dollars to insanely profitable oil companies.

-We can't effectively regulate Wall Street or indict any of those responsible for the 2008 economic collapse.

-We can't stop corporations from off-shoring profits to avoid taxes.

-We can't do anything to correct our horrific income and wealth inequality (but we're pretty good at making it worse).

    - We can't effectively regulate the monopoly-based telecom industry which continues to rip off millions of Americans every day.

-We can't do anything to significantly reign in our huge military spending.

-We can't hold accountable any of the politicians who lied us into an illegal, unnecessary, bloody and costly war with Iraq.

-We can't hold accountable anyone responsible for violating US and International laws against the use of torture.

--- We can't possibly be a democratic republic.
